LOW BACK PAIN & SACROILIAC DYSFUNCTION
ProFormance Rehab is well known for its rehabilitation program involving strengthening for the core musculature of the abdominal and lumbar areas. "The Core" is a concept that has been popularized in the latest fitness trends of yoga and Pilates. At ProFormance, we are focused on an advanced concept of core strengthening with the combination of muscle activation techniques and reinforcement exercises that allow us to further the stabilization process. We start with the base muscles of transversus abdominis in the lower abdominal region and the multifidus in the lower back and ensure that these muscles are strong. The pelvic floor and diaphragm muscles are also incorporated into the core. If not, muscle activation techniques are used to increase their recruitment abilities. These techniques are followed up with gentle strengthening exercises. Once these muscles are working then Phase 1 stabilization exercises can be started. These are the lowest level of exercises and are based on developing the abilities to use these muscles functionally. The Phase 2 and 3 exercises are progressively more difficult and challenging. They are incorporated into the program as soon as the lower level activities are mastered. The Phase 3 exercises are more functionally oriented, and are easily transitioned into sport-specific training and work simulation tasks.
