BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION THERAPY (BFR)

BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION THERAPY (BFR)
Blood Flow Restriction (BFR for short) is the application of restrictive cuffs to the upper arms and legs which restricts arterial blood flow inducing the body to recruit fast twitch muscle fibers normally reserved for strenuous exercise as well as produce growth hormones and increase protein synthesis which helps to build muscle. The goal is to allow patients to make greater strength gains while lifting lower loads thereby reducing the overall stress placed on the limbs.
